Australia to screen 'Suddenly a Tree'

Iranian feature 'Suddenly a Tree' has been set to participate at the 2019 edition of the Persian Film Festival in Australia.

Safi Yazdanian’s film will be screened at the opening ceremony of the Persian Film Festival on December 4.

“In the time of Iraq-Iran war, Farhad is arrested and charged with illegal migration. When he is freed years later, he goes to his old love, Mahtab,” a synopsis for the film reads.

Throughout the movie, we see Farhad’s life story since his childhood until the end, through his own narration, conversations with the police interrogator and a female psychoanalyst, according to the plot summary.

'Suddenly a Tree', which attended Iran’s 37th Fajr Film Festival, is starring Mahnaz Afshar and Peyman Maadi.

Earlier reports said that ‘African Violet’, directed by Mona Zandi-Haqiqi, will be screened at the closing ceremony of the Australia-based festival.

The 2019 edition of the Persian Film Festival in Australia will come to an end on December 8.
