Iran’s 2019 Roshd International Film Festival is set to host 142 films from Iran and across the world.
According to a press release, 85 Iranian films and 57 films from 25 countries have been selected to compete at the festival’s 2019 event in mid-November.
On the selection process, the festival’s director Vahid Golestan pointed out that the films were selected from a pool of over 2600 submitted films.
The films will be competing in various categories at the festival to include animations, documentaries, short Films, feature Films, and films created by student filmmakers and instructors.
Among the contestants in this year’s festival are ‘The Final Journey’ representing Uzbekistan and ‘400 MPH’ representing France in the Animations section; ‘How Blue is Your Ocean?’ representing the US and ‘What is Consciousness?’ representing the UK in the Scientific and Educational Documentaries section; and ‘Capitán Kinesis’ representing Spain and ‘Surprise Me!’ representing Austria in the Short Fiction Films section.
Founded in 1963, the Roshd International Film Festival is Iran’s first and longest standing global film event.
The festival’s main goal is to exchange educational films globally with the main theme being science, education, and ethics.
The festival’s 49th edition is set to launch November 15 in Tehran.
