Iran’s ‘Oath’ to vie in Australia

Directed by Mohsen Tanabandeh, ‘Oath’ has been selected to compete at the 8th edition of the Persian Film Festival in Australia.

A brief synopsis for the film reads, “Rezvan is murdered and now her family is after proving the fact that her husband is the one who killed her. The family members led by Rezvan’s sister take a bus to Mashhad where they will testify against Rezvan’s husband swearing on the Quran that he has done it”.

The film was screened at the 37th Fajr Film Festival and got several nominations. Although it was not able to grab any awards, it received various positive reviews.

Persian Film Festival screens the best of Iranian cinema and the Persian speaking world in Australia.

Established in 2011, the fest showcases films from Persian-speaking filmmakers from Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan. The fest holds master classes and cultural events.

The 2019 edition is set for December 4-8, 2019.
