Estonian film fest to host Iranian films

Estonia’s Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (POFF) is set to feature nine Iranian films at its 23rd annual event later this week.

The films will be competing in various categories at the festival to include Shorts, First Feature Competition, Current Waves, Films Out of Competition, and the festival’s Official Selection category.

Award-winning animation ‘Mr. Deer’ directed by Mojtaba Mousavi, ‘Song of Sparrow’ directed by Farzaneh Omidvarnia, ‘Like a Good Kid’ directed by Arian Vazirdaftari, and ‘Funfair’ directed by Kaveh Mazaheri will be competing in POFF’s Shorts section.

In the Current Waves category, Iranian blockbuster thrillers, ‘The Warden’ directed by Nima Javidi and Saeed Roustayi’s ‘Just 6.5’ will be featured at the event with three screening slots each.

For the festival’s Films Out of Competition category, ‘A Hairy Tale’ directed by Homayoun Ghanizadeh will be representing Iran at the festival.

Iranian actor/director/screenwriter Soroush Sehat’s latest film ‘Dance With Me’ will be taking part at POFF’s First Feature Competition.

As for the Official Selection category of POFF’s 23rd annual event, Narges Abyar’s award-winning feature ‘When The Moon Was Full’ will be the Iranian representative at the festival.

One of Northern Europe’s major film festivals, the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (POFF) has turned into one of the regions busiest industry platforms since its founding in 1997.

The festival screens an estimated 250 features and over 300 short films and animations, followed by an annual attendance of over 80,000 people.

POFF’s 23rd annual event is set to be held Nov. 15-Dec. 1, 2019.
