The New Images of Iran (Nouvelles Images d’Iran), a festival of Iranian films, is to have Iran acclaimed filmmaker Abolfazl Jalili serve as juror.
Jalili has been named as a juror for the 1st edition of the festival. Six Iranian feature films have been also selected by Jalili to be screened and reviewed at the event.
The selection lineup includes ‘Leaf of Life’ by Ebrahim Mokhtari, ‘Yeva’ by Anahid Abad, ‘Appendix’ by Hossein Namazi, ‘Villa Residents’ by Monir Qeydi, ‘Mothering’ by Roqayyeh Tavakkoli and ‘A House on 41st ST.’
As an internationally acclaimed Iranian film director, Jalili studied directing at the Iranian College of Dramatic Arts; then worked for national television (IRIB) where he produced several films for children.
His 'Det' meaning Girl (1994) won prizes in Venice Film Festival. He was one of Rotterdam's Filmmakers in Focus in 1999.
The first edition of the festival will be held by the Iran-France Center in collaboration with the municipality of Vitre and sponsored by Iran’s Farabi Cinema Foundation and World Culture Association.
The Nouvelles Images d’Iran has also introduced the committee members.
The festival aims to highlight promising young Iranian filmmakers by inviting them to present their first achievements.
The event also perpetuates the relationship that exists between the French and Persian cultures.
The upcoming edition of Festival Nouvelles Images d'Iran will take place in the northwestern French town of Vitré on December 11-15, 2019.
