Iran director to bring out memoir

Noted Iranian director Dariush Mehrjui’s memoir is slated to be unveiled in Iranian capital city of Tehran.

The book narrates two separate stories relating to two phases of the director’s life.

The first part is about the French city of Paris and the second tale is about a misunderstanding that leads to the director's arrest.

The unveiling ceremony of the book is to be held on December 28 in Tehran.

From an early age, Dariush Mehrjoui showed great interest in miniature painting and music, learning to play both santoor and piano.

When he was 17, he became interested in cinema and started learning English to understand the cinema of the world better. At the age of 20, he moved to the US and enrolled in the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), Department of Cinema.

Mehrjoui made his directing debut with ‘Diamond 33’ in 1966. His second feature film ‘Cow’ brought him national and international recognition.

Mehrjoui has also tried his hand at scenic designing, costuming and editing.

He has translated and written many books on cinema.
