‘Dream of Sohrab’ seeks to attend Fajr

Iranian feature ‘Dream of Sohrab’ has applied for the upcoming edition of the Fajr Film Festival.

Ali Qavitan, the director of ‘Dream of Sohrab’, said the film has filled out the application form to attend the 38th Fajr filmfest.

Noting that the film has a poetic basis and is not completely commercial, Qavitan said it has been decided to be premiered at the Fajr event and then to participate at other international festivals.

He added that the movie will receive public screening next year after the audience gets familiar with the film, which is about Sohrab Sepehri - a notable Iranian poet and painter.

The Fajr Film Festival coincides with the Ten-Day Fajr (Dawn) ceremonies across Iran, marking the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Since its establishment in 1982, the Fajr Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran every year.

The 38th Fajr Film Festival is set to kick off on February 1, 2020 and will run until February 11 in Tehran.

This is while an international version of the festival will be held in April 2020.
