Bangladesh takes Iranian ‘Oath’

Iranian feature film ‘Oath’ has been scheduled to attend the 18th Dhaka International Film Festival in Bangladesh.

Directed by Mohsen Tanabandeh, the social flick will be in competition with 18 other works at the Asian Film Competition section of the Bangladeshi film event.

“Rezvan is murdered and now her family is after proving the fact that her husband is the one who killed her. The family members led by Rezvan’s sister take a bus trip to Mashhad where they will testify against Rezvan’s husband swearing on the Quran that he has done it”, reads a brief synopsis for the flick.

‘Oath’ took its premiere at the 37th Fajr Film Festival in Iran. Since then, it has been touring at various film events including the Tokyo International Film Festival in Japan.

Notable among the cast are Saeed Aqakhani, Mahnaz Afshar, Hassan Pourshirazi and Mehran Ahmadi.

Established in 1992, the Dhaka International Film Festival is a biennial film festival in Bangladesh.  

The upcoming edition of the event is slated for January 11-19, 2020.
