Italian filmfest praises Iran short film

The 4th edition of the Solidando Film Festival in Italy has praised Iranian short film ‘Flying Fishes’.

Directed by Mohammad Towrivarian, ‘Flying Fishes’ won a Special Mention from the event’s jury.

The short flick is about a teacher who is new to a village. He notices that the only girl in his class does not talk and has cigarette burns on her skin.

‘Flying Fishes’ has participated at a number of international festivals and grabbed the Best Film award at the VKRATZE International Film Festival in Russia, the Platinum Medal from the 51st Houston International Film Festival in the US as well as Best Film Award at the 6th Rainbow Serpent Festival in Australia.

Established in 2004, the Solidando Film Festival is a no-profit international competitive festival of short films with a maximum length of 20 minutes that include the genres: documentary, fiction or animation exclusively on social themes.

The festival has a commitment to help low-income countries, improving educational growth and reduce social disadvantage through specific projects, according to the event’s organizers.

The 2019 edition of the festival was held on December 20-22, 2019.
