3 more films submitted to Fajr Film Festival

With the 38th Fajr Film Festival to be in the air, three more feature films have been submitted to the secretariat office of the upcoming edition of the Fajr Film Festival.  

New social drama ‘Amphibian’ by Borzou Niknejad is one of the recent entrants to the 38th edition of Iran’s most prestigious film event.  

‘Amphibian’ was planned to premiere before the Fajr Film Festival but the team changed the schedule and made it to the festival.

The flick has Pejman Jamshidi as one of the main roles. He costars ifilm popular figures such as Javad Ezzati, Hadi Hejazifar and Mani Haqiqi.

The film’s synopsis reads: “Well, it’s an amphibian. It is better to go underwater otherwise it will be crushed.”

The cast list includes many household names such as Javad Ezzati, Hadi Hejazifar, Setareh Pesyani, Elham Akhavan, Amin Hayaee, Bahram Afshari, Anahita Dargahi, Masoud Keramati, Mani Haghighi, Linda Kiani, Mohammad-Reza Solati, and Pejman Jamshidi.

Iran producer Seyyed Ziya Hashemi is also back to cinematic track after 10 years with his new feature film ‘The Future’ directed by Amir Pourkian.

‘The Future’ has been recently submitted to the festival with the premiere date scheduled for the next year.

The film is the story of today's tumultuous world. “The future is the fetus of a mother named today that will be born tomorrow”, comes as a tag line for the movie.

Among the big names starring in ‘The Future’ are Pantea Bahram, Kambiz Dirbaz, Amir Jafari, Bahareh Afshari and Shahram Qaedi.

Also among the recent applicants of the 38th Fajr Filmfest is Ark Brothers’ horror movie ‘Skin’.

Having a different and personal atmosphere while also trying to tackle unconventional issues, ‘Skin’ has not featured any well-known names and stars. The film is said to offer new suggestions for the future of Iranian cinema.

‘Skin’ is the first feature film made by Bahman and Bahram Ark as the two have multiple award-winning short film ‘AniMal’ in their resume. The 15-minute short is the winner of the second prize in the Cinéfondation category at the 70th edition of the Cannes Film Festival and the best short film award at the 36th Fajr Film Festival.

Presided over by Ebrahim Daroughehzadeh, the 38th Fajr Film Festival will take place in Tehran on February 1-10, 2020.
