Iranian short ‘Dissect’ has been selected to compete at the 16th Kinofilm & Manchester International Film Festival in the UK.
“Police have entered a school to investigate the sudden death of a student,” a synopsis for the film reads.
Directed by Siavash Shahabi, among the cast are Alireza Sanifar, Tinoo Salehi, Mehdi Aqajani, Mohammad-Amin Ashtiani, Mohammad Jafarnejad, Mohammad Akbari, Hossein Gholami, Ilia Nasrollahi, Arian Farzaneh, Shirin Ebrahimi, and Afsaneh Seifi.
‘Dissect’ has gone on screen at some global events, including the 59th Krakow Film Festival in Poland, the 22nd Shanghai International Film Festival in China, and the 2019 Palm Springs International Festival of Short Films in the US.
It has won awards such as a Grand Prix at the Tehran International Short Film Festival in Iran.
Among Iran representatives at this edition of the Kinofilm are ‘The Feast of the Goat’ by Saeed Zamanian, ‘Umbra’ by Saeed Jafarian, ‘Flying Fishes’ by Mohammad Towrivarian, ‘Starvation’ by Zahra Rostampour, and ‘Cleaner’ by Mohammad-Reza Meyqani.
The Kinofilm fest celebrates the talents of emerging and established filmmakers.
The fest is famous for showcasing the best short films and debut features from around the world.
The 16th Kinofilm is slated for February 24–March 1, 2020.
