‘Salman the Persian’ begins shooting

Shooting for ‘Salman the Persian’ has officially launched in the deserts of Iran’s Kerman province.

The cast and crew along with director Davoud Mirbaqeri entered the desert region last Thursday to begin the initial phases of the film’s pre-production.

The biopic covers the life of one of Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) closest companions, Salman the Persian.

Mirbaqeri’s series will cover Salman’s life from adolescence until the prophet’s (PBUH) death and his return to the city of Mada’in.

The series will be set in the time period of Persia, Byzantine, and Roman empires.

Production for the 40-part series is expected to take at least five years with various shooting locations to include Turkey, Qeshm Island, and Qazali Cinema Town.

Alireza Shojanouri whose experience includes the role of Prophet Muhammad’s grandfather, Abdul Muttalib, in Majid Majidi’s 2017 epic ‘Muhammad: The Messenger of God’ will be starring as Salman.

‘The Chef’ actor Farhad Aslani will also be acting in the film, playing the role of a merchant.

‘Jalal Edin’ star Ali Dehkordi and ‘In the Eye of the Storm’ actor Mohammad-Reza Hedayati are also among the more than 1500 cast members of the series which includes a mix of Iranian and foreign actors.

Salman the Persian is buried 30 kilometers southeast of the capital city of Baghdad in modern day Iraq.
