Iran has been selected as special guest of Beijing Int’l Book Fair, to be held in Chinese capital in August.
As part of efforts to promote Tehran-Beijing cultural relations, Iran will take part at the Chinese event, which is slated for August 23-27.
Chinese cultural officials announced the selection during a meeting with Iran Cultural Fairs Institute (ICFI) Director Amir-Masoud Shahramnia.
"Being selected as the special guest of honor will provide a good opportunity for Iran to boost cultural ties. It also gives the publishers a chance to exchange information and introduce their latest productions,” Shahramnia said.
“Iran and China have appropriate capacities for developing joint cultural cooperation. Iran has always respected China and maintained its close ties with Beijing,” he also said during the meeting.
The Iranian official expressed appreciation for the good economic relations between the two Asian countries, while also expressing hope for more cultural collaborations.
The Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF) is now considered by many as one of the top four international book fairs in the world.
The 24th BIBF is divided into several specific areas, including the area of children’s books and comics, the field of industry, and the field of book and newspaper publishers.
