Iranian actor Hamidiyan to produce ‘Oldboy’

Iranian popular actor Babak Hamidiyan is set to produce a film titled ‘Oldboy’ (Pir Pesar) which will be directed by Oktay Baraheni.

The film, which is also written by Oktay Baraheni, recently received the production permit.

Hamidiyan was born in Tehran on September 10, 1980. He studied Theatre at the Islamic Azad University.

He started his career by acting in the theater, and made his film debut in ‘My Father's Farm’ in 2003.

Hamidiyan has appeared in movies, including ‘Qadamgah’, ‘Big Drum Under the Left Foot’, ‘A Little Kiss’, ‘God is Near’, ‘Down-and-Out’ and ‘Resurrection Day’ (‘Hussein (AS) Who Said No’).

Hamidiyan was nominated for an Iran Cinema Celebration Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance in the film ‘Big Drum under the Left Foot’ (2004).

He won an Iran Cinema Celebration Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance in ‘The Wrangler’ (2007).

The Iranian actor’s performances in ‘The Resurrection Day’ (‘Hussein Who Said No’) (2010) and ‘Che (Chamran)’ (2013) earned him two Crystal Simorghs for Best Actor in a Supporting Role at Fajr International Film Festival. 

His performance in ‘Hush! Girls Don't Scream’ (2013) earned him an Iranian Cinema Critics Association Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.
