Artwork paying tribute to late Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami has been designed in Iranian capital city of Tehran.
The memorial artwork created by Behzad Shafaq and Elmira Rasoulirad was displayed at Dr. Beheshti Avenue, Tehran. Caption for the artwork piece also referred to a poem by Iranian noted filmmakerto roughly translated as “… when he left he was. Abbas Kiarostami.”
Abbas Kiarostami, who has died in July 2016, was an Iranian film director, whose ‘Taste of Cherry’ grabbed the Palme d’Or at the 1997 Cannes Film Festival.
Several prestigious festivals and film events have already honored the noted Iranian director as well as paying homage to Kiarostami by organizing retrospectives of his works.
He is mostly known as a screenwriter, film editor, art director and producer as well as a poet, photographer, painter, illustrator, and graphic designer.
The cinematic works by the internationally acclaimed filmmaker have been hailed by various festivals around the world.
