Iran’s ‘Camion’ shines in India

Directed by Kambuzia Partovi, the Iranian film ‘Camion’ has been warmly welcomed at the 2020 Festival of 5 Continents in India.

A press conference was arranged in New Delhi where the international jury members of the event analyzed the film.

Iran and India co-produced a number of movies and series, including ‘Salaam Mumbai’.

The fact that critics and audiences in India welcomed Iranian ‘Camion’ shows that the two countries can cooperate in new projects and bring the enthusiasts more of such movies.

Partovi’s film won the Best Film and Best Screenplay awards at the Amiens International Film Festival in France, the Duhok International Film Festival in Iraq and the Fajr International Film Festival in Iran.

The main actors of the flick are Niki Karimi, Saeed Aqakhani, Teroske Jola (Kurd actress), Yaghub Parsa, Ramin Rastad, and Nasrin Moradi.

The outstanding performance of Aqakhani and the engaging screenplay (also written by Partovi) are strong points of the movie.

The film narrates the story of a woman of the Yazidi religion and her kids who have lost their home in Iraq in a Daesh attack. This small family is now accompanied by a truck driver on his vehicle heading towards Iran. Once in Tehran, they crush into a rich Tehrani woman’s BMW car.

The Satyajit Ray Auditorium at Indian Council for Cultural Relations is the venue hosting this edition of the Festival of 5 Continents.

The announced date for the event is January 12-16, 2020.
