‘Pastarioni’ served in Bulgaria

The 12th edition of the Sofia Menar Film Festival in Bulgaria has screened Iranian film ‘Pastarioni’.     

Directed by Soheil Movaffaq and produced by Bita Mansouri, the comedy flick went on screen at the main competition program of the Bulgarian film event.

The title is themed on highlighting various types of local food in the country and follows the story of a restaurant offering such delicacies in competition with fast food places.

Sam Derakhshani, Samyar Mohammadi, Mohammad Shakeri, Bahareh Rahnama, Gohar Kheirandish, Mohammad Naderi, Kamand Amir-Soleimani, Mahtab Servati, Omid Rouhani, Mehdi Baqerbeigi and Hamid Sepidnam are among the cast team.

‘Pastarioni’ was previously screened at the 7th Asian Film Festival Barcelona (AFFBCN).

Good to know that Iranian Movie Night will be also held in a special ceremony in Sofia Cinema House on January 24; and 'Castle of Dreams' directed by Reza Mirkarimi is scheduled to go on screen at this night.

More Iranian features such as ‘Weightlessness’ by Mehdi Fard Ghaderi, ‘Underwater Cypress’ by Mohammad Ali Bashe Ahangar, and ‘Domino’ by Laleh Barzegar will be also screened in different cinemas in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Sofia MENAR Film Festival makes Bulgarian audience familiar with the culture and traditions of the Islamic world.

The program of Sofia MENAR Film Festival presents the best of Middle East and North Africa cinema productions, including feature films, documentaries and short projects.

The festival is held every year in January and runs at the same time in Sofia and other major Bulgarian cities.

The term MENAR, for "Middle East and North Africa Region", is an acronym often used to cover an extensive area, stretching from Morocco to Iran, including the majority of both the Middle Eastern and Maghreb countries.

The 2020 edition of the event kicked off on January 14 and will be running until January 30.
