Kolkata film fest hosting 3 Iranian films

Iran’s short film ‘The Time of the Pomegranate’s Smile’ is attending the Kolkata International Children’s Film Festival (KICFF) in India, bringing to three the number of Iranian films participating at the event.

Rahbar Qanbari’s short film is about a teenage boy who secretly picks pomegranates from the basket of the owner of a pomegranate garden while he was in her garden, but he has another intention, according to a synopsis for the film.

Iranian movies '21 Days Later’ by Mohammad-Reza Kheradmandan and Mojtaba Mousavi’s animated film ‘Mr Deer’ have also taken part at the festival.

The 9th Kolkata International Children’s Film Festival (KICFF) kicked off on January 19 and will run until January 26.

The KICFF has been structured "exclusively for children and juveniles, keeping in mind their interests and likings”, the festival’s website reads.

The event showcases “a plethora of films from across the globe, which includes not only feature films, but animation films, shorts and documentaries, amongst other educational films”.
