Iranian feature ‘Zero Day’ has released the film’s first official photo.

Directed by award-winning producer and makeup artist Saeed Malekan, the film is set to premiere at the 38th annual Fajr Film Festival in Tehran, beginning on Saturday.

The release was followed up by the completion of the technical stages as well as the announcement of the film’s full cast list for the first time.

Written by Malekan and Bahram Tavakkoli, ‘Zero Day’ is a depiction of a modern event with a varying narrative, following two months of intense filming in Iran and various international locations.

Featured in the photo is Amir Jadidi who is joined by names such as Saed Soheili, Mehdi Qorbani, Tino Salehi, Mohammad-Reza Maleki, Reza Khodadadbeigi, Mohammad-Ali Rajpout, Abolfazl Saffari, Hamireza Soleimani, Milad Yazdani and Amin Golestaneh in making up the film’s cast.

Malekan, Tavakoli, and Jadidi previously worked together in the award-winning feature ‘The Lost Strait’ which garnered the 2018 Fajr Film Festival’s Best Actor, Best Film, Best Director, Best Makeup, and Best Special Effects awards.

Malekan’s directorial debut will be competing in the festival’s main competition as well as the ‘New Look’ competition for first-time directors.

The Fajr Film Festival coincides with the Ten-Day Fajr (Dawn) ceremonies across Iran, marking the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Since its establishment in 1982, the Fajr Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors along with up and coming filmmakers from Iran every year.

The 38th edition of the event is set to launch on February 1, 2020 and will run until February 11 in Tehran.

An international version of the event is also set to be held in April 2020.
