Asia-Pacific awards Iran ‘Dance with Me’

The 59th edition of the Asia-Pacific Film Festival (APFF) in China has awarded Iranian feature ‘Dance with Me’.

Soroush Sehhat’s debut feature won the Special Jury Award at the Chinese event which was hosted by Macau this year.

The film which was premiered at the 37th edition of the Fajr film Festival in Iran recounts the story of a man’s last birthday.

“Jahangir’s friends have gathered together to celebrate his birthday for one last time. The situation prompts them to reflect upon themselves and their lives”, reads a brief synopsis for the film.

Ali Mossafa, Javad Ezzati, Hanieh Tavassoli, Pejman Jamshidi, Siavash Cheraghipour and Mehrab Qasemkhani are among the cast members of the flick.

‘Dance with Me’ attended the 2019 edition of the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in Estonia.

Malaysian filmmaker Quek Shio Chuan’s movie ‘Guang’ won Best Film award at the closing ceremony of the 59th APFF.

The APFF is organized by the Federation of Motion Pictures Producers in Asia Pacific (FPA).

The festival, oldest of its kind in Asia, is held in a different country each year, with its first edition in 1954 in Tokyo, Japan.
