The released image for the Iranian wartime drama, which is currently on the screen of the main competition section of the 38th Fajr Film Festival, shows ifilm star of ‘Leila’s Loneliness’ Mina Sadati attired as a pained and scared mother who is embracing her kid.
The film retells the horrific story of using chemical weapons during the Iraqi imposed war on Iran. It shows how a man portrayed by Peyman Maadi tries to rescue his family when the prohibited bombs have fallen on their city, Sardasht, in the western region of Iran.
A tagline for the film reads, “It might be time for everyone to be informed about this story; a story that began next to this Walnut Tree”.
Mina Sadati, Mehran Modiri and Minou Sharifi are also among the cast members of the feature.
Established in 1982, the Fajr Film Festival is an event that celebrates cultural exchange, displays creative achievements of highly acclaimed cineastes and pays tribute to local and international films.
Since its establishment, the Fajr Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of the Iranian Cinema.
Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran and across the world every year.
The 38th Fajr Film Festival kicked off on February 1, 2020 and will run till February 11 in Tehran.
