FFF audiences pick ‘Butterfly Stroke’

About 90% of the 38th Fajr Film Festival (FFF) audiences have picked ‘Butterfly Stroke’.

The event organizers announced list of the percentages of audience votes during the 38th FFF.

‘Butterfly Stroke’ with 89.15%, ‘Walnut Tree’ with 87.90%, and ‘Zero Day’ with 86.78% are on the top of the list.

Directed by Mohammad Kart, ‘Butterfly Stroke’ narrates the story of some ostracized people from the poverty-stricken neighborhoods in Tehran.

The people have to pretend to be strong if they want to survive the brutality of their environment.

Some top-rating Iranian actors such as Mohammad-Javad Ezzati, Tannaz Tabatabaee, Mahlaqa Baqeri, Pantea Bahram and Amir Aqaee star in the flick.

Directed by Mohammad-Hossein Mahdavian, ‘Walnut Tree’ retells the horrific story of using chemical weapons during the Iraqi imposed war on Iran.

It shows how a man portrayed by Peyman Maadi tries to rescue his family when the prohibited bombs have fallen on their city, Sardasht, in the western region of Iran.

Mina Sadati, Mehran Modiri and Minou Sharifi are also among the cast members of the feature.

Directed by Saeed Malekan, ‘Zero Day’ is a depiction of a modern event with a varying narrative, following two months of intense filming in Iran and various international locations.

Amire Jadidi, Saed Soheili, Mehdi Qorbani, Tino Salehi, Mohammad-Reza Maleki, Reza Khodadadbeigi, Abolfazl Saffari, Hamireza Soleimani, Milad Yazdani and Amin Golestaneh are among the cast.

Established in 1982, the FFF is an event that celebrates cultural exchange, displays creative achievements of highly acclaimed cineastes and pays tribute to local and international films.

Since its establishment, the FFF has played a vital role in the development of the Iranian Cinema.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran and across the world every year.

The 38th Fajr Film Festival was held on February 1-11, 2020 in Tehran.
