Mexico to host animated piece ‘Malakout’

‘Malakout’ is slated to vie at the Guadalajara International Film Festival in Mexico.

The animation, directed by Farnoush Abedi, will be screened at the competition section of the 35th edition of the event.

The film is to compete with other titles from Mexico, Colombia, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Brazil, Canada and Switzerland.

“Music was his passion… Love was his masterpiece…,” a short synopsis for the animation reads.

‘Malakout’ is the recipient of Special Mention Short award from the 8th Silk Road International Film Festival (SRIFF) which was held in Dublin, Ireland on January 21-25, 2020.

The Guadalajara International Film Festival is a week-long event held each March in the Mexican city of Guadalajara since 1986.

The festival is considered the most prestigious film festival in Latin America and among the most important Spanish language film festivals in the world, according to the event's organizers.

The 35th edition of the festival is slated for March 20-27, 2020.
