Macedonia meeting Iranian ‘Reza’

A festival of films from Iranian and Macedonian directors has been screening ‘Reza’ at the Cinematheque of Macedonia in the North Macedonian capital of Skopje.

Directed by Alireza Motamedi, the 94-minute romantic comedy ‘Reza’ revolves around the life of an author named Reza who begins to write a story about his ancestor's immigration to the historic city of Isfahan.

Meanwhile, Reza and his wife separate from each other through divorce after nine years of marriage, but he finds it difficult to start a new life without his ex whom he still loves.

Reza must delve into all aspects of his personality to find out why his better half and the woman he loves cannot tolerate living with him and wants a divorce.

Reza Davoudnejad, Setareh Pesyani, Afsar Asadi, Pantea Marzbanian, Nasim Mirzadeh, Marjan Moshtaqian, Solmaz Ghani, and the director Motamedi are among the cast of the flick.

The film was premiered at the 36th Fajr International Film Festival in Iran and well-received by the film critics.

Since then, it has attended a number of global events, including the 2018 Sao Paolo International Film Festival in Brazil, 2018 Iranian Film Festival Toronto in Canada, the 2018 Belfort Entrevues Film Festival in France, the 2019 San Diego Asian Film Festival in the US, the 2019 Iranian Film Festival Prague in the Czech Republic, the 19th Yari Iranian Film Festival in Sweden, the 9th Beijing International Film Festival in China, and the 2019 Persian Film Festival in Australia.

The jury members of the 2018 Mumbai Film Festival in India praised the film for being poetic and having a critical outlook.

The film has also received Best Film Award of the 7th Asian Film Festival Barcelona in Spain.

It has been scheduled to go on public screens in France from August 21, 2019.
