Doc on Kiarostami to go to Chile

Iranian documentary ‘Kiarostami and His Missing Cane’ has been set to attend the 6th edition of the FELACOS-Santiago Long and Short Film Festival in Chile.

Directed by Mohammad-Reza Sani, the doc on late Iranian mega-director Abbas Kiarostami will be one of the five titles to compete at the Documentary Feature section of the Chilean film event.

The doc produced by Behrouz Neshan depicts late director’s worldview and his perspective on life and cinema.

In the 90-minute documentary, Kiarostami is portrayed as a child who is exploring new games. As he says, cinema for him is like a game that allows him to go back to his childhood.

‘Kiarostami and His Missing Cane’ has already attended a number of international film events, including the Salto Independent Film Festival in Uruguay.

Kiarostami has also won many awards, including the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 1997 for ‘Taste of Cherry’.

He is mostly known as a screenwriter, film editor, art director and producer as well as a poet, photographer, painter, illustrator, and graphic designer.

The veteran Iranian filmmaker who passed away on July 4, 2016, following a heart attack at the age of 76, was honored at more than 300 film events around the world.

According to the official website of the FELACOS-Santiago Long and Short Film Festival, the event seeks to make art of filmmaking visible by film discussions and exhibition of the cinematic productions.

The latest edition of the film event is slated for March 05-08, 2020.
