Iran short to go to Lebanon

The Beirut International Women Film Festival (BWFF) has set to host Iranian acclaimed short film ‘Driving Lessons’.

Directed by Marzieh Riyahi, the award-winning short will be in competition with shorts from countries such as Turkey, Germany, UK, Italy and Switzerland at the 3rd edition of the Lebanese film event.

The 13-minute flick narrates the story of a young woman named Bahareh who must have her traditional controlling husband accompany her on driving lessons so she and her male instructor would not be alone. 

ifilmers already know the star of the flick Linda Kiani as she has been in the series ‘Until Being with Sorayya’.

‘Driving Lessons’ has so far attended a number of international events and won some awards including, the jury’s special award at the Film Festival for Women’s Rights in South Korea, the best short drama award at the “I Will Tell” international film festival in the UK and the best film award at the Religion Today Film Festival in Italy.

The Through Women’s Eyes International Film Festival in the US and the International Regensburg Short Film Week in Germany are two other events that will soon screen the short.

This year edition of the Beirut International Women Film Festival will be holding under the theme of ‘Women for Leadership’. According to the festival’s official website, the theme has been set to highlight “the role of women as leaders in their societies”.

The 3rd BWFF is slated for March 8-13, 2020.
