‘Weightlessness’ bags new award in Peru

Iranian feature film ‘Weightlessness’ has taken home new award from the 3rd Insolito International Horror & Fantasy Film Festival in Peru.

Written and directed by Mehdi Fard-Qaderi, ‘Weightlessness’ won the Black Cat Trophy for the Best Film in the “Fantasies Without Rules Competition” section of the event.

‘Weightlessness’ had just a few days ago received the Director’s Award at the North Carolina Film Award in the US.

More than 1,000 movies entered the Insolito International Horror & Fantasy Film Festival. From among the nine movies in the competition section, ‘Weightlessness’ received the prize.

The cinematic work depicts a multi-genre feminine story with its main events centering on a wedding.

The film features various artists such as Bahareh Kian-Afshar, Amir-Ali Danaee, Nasim Adabi, Yasser Jafari, Jalal Fatemi, Sepideh Moradpour, and Tina Pakravan.

Produced by Morteza Shayesteh, the flick is also picked to inaugurate the 4th edition of Love International Film Festival (LIFF) to be held in the US on September 2020.

‘Weightlessness’ kicked off screening across cinema halls in Iran since February 12, and then due to the outbreak of coronavirus in Iran, all the cinemas were temporarily shut down.

The Insolito is Peru’s first genre cinema film festival emphasizing titles with horror and fantasy themes.

The festival’s 3rd edition was held in Lima, Peru on February 25–March 1, 2020.
