‘Funfair’ en route to Canada

Kaveh Mazaheri's short film ‘Funfair’ has been selected to attend the REGARD – Saguenay International Short Film Festival in Canada.

The Iran/Canada co-production will vie at the 24th edition of the Canadian film event.

'Funfair' is a short film about members of a family who risk their lives to earn more money in order to escape a life of destitution.

The film has also been accepted into the competition programs of the 4th Akbank Short Film Festival currently underway in Turkey up until March 26 as well as the 15th Dieciminuti Film Festival to be held in Italy on March 17-21, 2020.  

‘Funfair’ has been qualified for Oscar 2021 after winning the best short film award at the 32nd edition of Foyle Film Festival in Derry, Northern Ireland.

The film's further accolades also include a Special Mention for Best Screenplay at 'Court en Scène' Film Festival in France, a Special Mention for Best Foreign Film at Winchester Film Festival in the UK, and the 'Good Fylm Best Short Award' at the 18th edition of Cornwall Film Festival in the UK.

The REGARD - Saguenay International Short Film Festival is the largest short film festival in North America.

Established in 1995, the event presents nearly two hundred short films from Quebec and around the world every year with the mission of promoting independent short films that reflect an innovative spirit and demonstrate a high-quality artistic approach.

The REGARD Festival will hold its 24th edition from March 11 to 15, 2020.
