French ECU to host Iran ‘Funfair’

The European Independent Film Festival (ECO) in France has scheduled to show Iranian short film ‘Funfair’.

Directed by Kaveh Mazaheri, the short title will be in competition at the Non-European Dramatic Short section of the 15th edition of the French event.

The film narrates the story of a young married couple and their 5-year-old kid. The three of them are grabbling with financial issues the father of the family has brought upon them.

“Majid, a financially struggling man, comes up with a ploy in order to better the life of his wife, Sara,” a synopsis for the film reads.

The ambiance of ‘Funfair’ is somehow the same as Mazaheri’s most acclaimed short ‘Retouch’ which has so far won a huge number of awards.

In both works there is a woman who finds the chemistry of her relationship with her husband not to be functioning as it is supposed to be.

The cast list of the flick includes Sonia Sanjari, Soroush Saeedi and Artin Rabiee.

‘Funfair’ has already attended a number of international events and won some awards, including the best international film award at the Foyle Film Festival in the UK and Best Screenplay award at the Court en Scene film festival in France.

The European Independent Film Festival is dedicated to the best filmmakers from around the world.

The event provides the storytellers with a broad audience and showcases films that display quality, innovation, and creativity in form and content.

This edition of the event is slated for April 24-26, 2020.
