The Geneva International Film Festival and Forum on Human Rights (FIFDH) in Switzerland is currently playing host to Iranian short film ‘Funfair’.

The Iran/Canada co-production by Kaveh Mazaheri is on screen at the 18th edition of the event.

'Funfair' is a short film about members of a family who risk their lives to earn more money in order to escape a life of destitution.

The film has also been accepted into the competition programs of the 4th Akbank Short Film Festival currently underway in Turkey up until March 26 as well as the 15th Dieciminuti Film Festival to be held in Italy on March 17-21, 2020.

Moreover, the 24th REGARD – Saguenay International Short Film Festival in Canada is also screening 'Funfair'. The REGARD Festival will be held until March 15, 2020.

‘Funfair’ has been qualified for Oscar 2021 after winning the best short film award at the 32nd edition of Foyle Film Festival in Derry, Northern Ireland.

The film's further accolades also include a Special Mention for Best Screenplay at 'Court en Scène' Film Festival in France, a Special Mention for Best Foreign Film at Winchester Film Festival in the UK, and the 'Good Fylm Best Short Award' at the 18th edition of Cornwall Film Festival in the UK.

The FIFDH is the leading international event dedicated to film and human rights. The festival runs two international competitions including fiction and documentary with the aim to offer a world-class selection of feature films that challenge the ways in which we see the world, in the presence of filmmakers and protagonists.

The FIFDH is underway in Geneva and will run through March 15, 2020.
