France Art, Experience cinemas admires ‘Yalda’

Masoud Bakhshi’s award-winning feature film ‘Yalda’ has been admired by France’s Art and Experience cinemas.

In a new list of honored works recently released, the committee of the French Art and Experience cinemas has acclaimed ‘Yalda, a Night for Forgiveness’ alongside films such as Christine Petzold's ‘Undine’, winner of the Silver Bear Award for Best Actress at the Berlinale 2020, ‘Light of My Life’ by Casey Affleck, and the restored version of ‘The Garden of the Finzi-Continis’ directed by Vittorio De Sica who won the 1971 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film as well as the Golden Bear at the Berlin Festival.

Each month, the committee selects 7 to 9 films and honors them through their theatrical release in France and dedicating venues and advertising coverage to them.

New premiere date for ‘Yalda' will be announced soon after the whole coronavirus breakout is over.

‘Yalda’, a captivating drama co-produced with Luxembourg's Amour Fou and awarded in Sundance Film Festival, follows a young Iranian woman sentenced to death and seeking to obtain forgiveness from her accusers via a popular reality TV show.

‘Yalda’ starrs Behnaz Jafari and Faqiheh Soltani.

The 2019 production has been already honored with the Grand Jury Award at the 2020 International Dramatic Film at Sundance Film Festival in the US.

In its recent festival appearance, Bakhshi’s 89-min ‘Yalda’ went on screen at the 15th Panorama of Maghreb and Middle Eastern Cinemas in France as well as the Sofia International Film Festival (SIFF) in Bulgaria.
