Germany honors ‘Copper Notes of a Dream’

The International Documentary Film Festival Munich (DOK. fest) in Germany has honored Iranian director’s ‘Copper Notes of a Dream’.

The Iranian documentary was picked as one of the 15 winners at the 35th edition of the DOK. fest.

It grabbed the 3,000 EUR award of SOS-Kinderdörfer weltweit which is sponsored by B.O.A Videofilmkunst.

Made by Reza Farahmand and produced by Morteza Shabani, the documentary tells the story of Mallouk, a ten year old boy who collects the copper wire along with his friends.

They gather the wire from homes which were demolished during war and sell the collection in order to make a living.

Their passion for the pursuit of a childhood dream, however, lightens the warmth of hope in their hearts, enabling them to find happiness among the ruins.

‘Copper Notes of a Dream’ has been screened at a number of global events, including the 13th Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) in Australia, the 11th DMZ International Documentary Film Festival in South Korea, the 15th Camden International Film Festival in the US, the 2nd Hainan Island International Film Festival in China, and the 22nd Olympia International Film Festival for Children and Young People in Greece where received a special mention for Best Feature Documentary Director.

The DOK. fest has been held annually since 1985 and is considered as the largest festival for feature-length documentaries in Germany.

It focuses on socially relevant and artistically valuable documentary films.

The event also includes the industry platform DOK. forum, the children and youth program DOK. education and the touring festival DOK. tour Bayern.

The 35th DOK. fest is slated for May 6-24, 2020.
