The 70th edition of the German event will be telecast live on April 24 while the guests and the nominees will not be attending the palace of the event in Berlin. During the ceremony the award winners will be announced.
Sherry Hormann, this year’s director of the ceremony has disclosed to the media that regardless of the fact that the whole borders are closed due to the life-threatening crisis of the pandemic, the event will go on as it should to create a unique experience.
Edin Hasanovic, an actor, will host this year German Film Awards which has Burhan Qurbani’s ‘Berlin Alexanderplatz’ as its forerunner movie with 11 nominations.
Launched in 1951, The German Film Awards is the equivalent of the American Oscars and it has set a sum of 3.2 million Euros as its cash prize for the winners. The awards handed out at this event are called Lolas.
