Fajr to screen Kiarostami’s final work

The 35th edition of Fajr International Film Festival, currently underway, is set to screen late Abbas Kiarostami’s last feature-length film.

The film titled ‘Take Me Home’ will be screened on the festival’s second day, April 22

According to FIFF Screenings & Special Events director, Seifollah Samadian, this year’s run will commemorate the late Iranian filmmaker who passed away in 2016.

The honoring programs include an exhibition of works by the A-list filmmaker in the form of photos, posters, and cartoons at Tehran’s Charsoo Cineplex.

According to Samadian, several video massages in memory of Kiarostami will be delivered at the event by noted international and national artists such as Juliette Binoche (France), director Martin Scorsese (US), Jill Jacobs (former director of Cannes Film Festival) and director Asghar Farhadi (Iran)

Abbas Kiarostami was an Iranian film director, whose ‘Taste of Cherry’ grabbed the Palme d’Or at the 1997 Cannes Film Festival.

Several prestigious festivals and film events have already honored the noted Iranian director as well as paying homage to Kiarostami by organizing retrospectives of his works.

He is mostly known as a screenwriter, film editor, art director and producer as well as a poet, photographer, painter, illustrator, and graphic designer.

The cinematic works by the internationally acclaimed filmmaker have been hailed by various festivals around the world.
