Fajr Int’l Film Festival commences

Tehran has started to play host to the 35th edition of the Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF).

The festival was opened in presence of many cultural figures as well as guests from across the world in the Iranian capital city of Tehran on Friday.

Supervised by Iranian filmmaker Reza Mirkarimi, the international section of the event’s 35th edition commenced its official programs on April 21 and will last until April 28.

The official website of the festival wrote FIFF is aimed at focusing particularly on movies from the Middle East, Central Asia, and Caucasus, as well as films “heralding peace and friendship as true teachings of the holy prophets.”

Established in 1982, the Fajr International Film Festival celebrates cultural exchange, displays creative achievements of highly acclaimed cineastes and pays tribute to local and international films.

Since its establishment, the Fajr International Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of the Iranian Cinema.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran and across the world every year.
