Italy fest to host Iran’s ‘Funfair’

The 2020 short film festival in Italy has scheduled to screen Iranian title ‘Funfair’.

Directed by Kaveh Mazaheri, the internationally recognized Iranian title will compete at the 14th edition of the Italian event.

The 15-minute flick narrates the story of a young married couple and their 5-year-old kid.

The three of them are grabbling with financial issues that the father of the family has brought upon them.

“Majid, a financially struggling man, comes up with a ploy in order to better the life of his wife, Sara”, Reads a brief synopsis for the flick.

‘Funfair’ has gone on screen at several global events, including the 2019 Tirana International Film Festival in Albania, the 21st POFF Shorts in Estonia, the 20th Santa Fe Film Festival in the US, the 29th International Cinema Show of Palencia in Spain, the 24th REGARD – Saguenay International Short Film Festival in Canada, the 18th Geneva International Film Festival and Forum on Human Rights in Switzerland, and the 15th Dieciminuti Film Festival in Italy.

The special mention at the Winchester Film Festival in the UK, the Best Screenplay Award at the Court en Scène film festival in France and the Best International Short Film at the Foyle Film Festival in the UK and the Non-European Dramatic Short Award at the European Independent Film Festival in France are among the global honors of ‘Funfair’.

The cast list of the flick includes Sonia Sanjari, Soroush Saeedi and Artin Rabiee.

Mazaheri’s ‘Retouch’ won the award for best film at the 12th edition of the SorsiCorti in 2018.

Launched in 2010, the SorsiCorti is aimed at giving visibility to the work of filmmakers from all over the world and offering a careful selection of quality short films to the audience.

It is a short film festival that combines conviviality and interest in the art of the short film.

The 14th edition of the event is slated for June 11-14, 2020.
