Iran to ‘Show Off’ in Portugal

Mehdi Barqzadegan’s ‘Show Off’ is competing at Monstra Lisbon Animation Festival underway in Portugal.

The Supershorts section of the 20th edition of the event is currently hosting ‘Show Off’ from Iran.

‘Show Off’ tells the story of a crow who has lost one of her tail feathers. However, the crow removes all her feathers so as to attract more attention. Just then, among the crowd, a fox notices her.

Iranian 4-minute animation ‘One Person’ by Mahboubeh Kalaee and ‘Am I a Wolf?’ by Amir-Houshang Moeen are also among Iranian attendees of the festival.

Lisbon Animation Festival is “an event where animated film meets other media and arts, aiming to present, experiment and discuss ideas, crossing over new artistic approaches and forms, on which animated film is the narrative and aesthetic expression.”

The festival’s main goal is to present and promote the best animated films made all over the world.

The 2020 Monstra Lisbon Animation Festival was inaugurated on May 25 and will run until May 31.
