Iran’s supershort vying in Portugal

Iranian supershort animation ‘Mellat Bank’ has been scheduled for competing at the 2020 edition of the MONSTRA – Lisbon Animation Festival in Portugal.

Written, animated, produced and directed by Rouhollah Saadatmand, the 1-minute animation depicts a small office where employees are frustrated.

While their boss is disappointed by the situation one of the employees finds a solution.

Launched in 2000, the MONSTRA has celebrated short films and provided an opportunity for people with different artistic backgrounds to meet.

The organizers published an official statement that reads, “Due to the temporary shutdown of some of the city-run venues in order to comply to the prevention measures announced by the Lisbon City Council, the Lisbon Animation Festival | MONSTRA was left with no other options than to cancel its program scheduled for March 18-29, 2020”.

Therefore, the 20th edition of the event kicked off on May 25 and will run through May 31.

‘Am I a Wolf?’ by Amir-Houshang Moeen, ‘One Person’ by Mahboubeh Kalaee, and ‘Show Off’ by Mehdi Barqzadegan are the other Iranian representatives at this edition of the MONSTRA.
