Iranian feature film ‘Weightlessness’ has found place to the main competition program of the Ischia Film Festival (iff) in Italy.

Written and directed by Mehdi Fard-Qaderi, ‘Weightlessness’ will be competing at the 18th edition of iff this year.

‘Weightlessness’ recently received the Black Cat Trophy for the Best Film at the 3rd Insolito International Horror & Fantasy Film Festival in Peru as well as the Director’s Award at the North Carolina Film Award in the US.

Fard-Qaderi’s flick will also appear at the 17th Salento International Film Festival in Italy to be held on September 1-6, 2020 and the 2020 Athens Marathon International Film Festival in Greece, scheduled for June12-21.

The cinematic work depicts a multi-genre feminine story with its main events centering on a wedding.

The film features various artists such as Bahareh Kian-Afshar, Amir-Ali Danaee, Nasim Adabi, Yasser Jafari, Jalal Fatemi, Sepideh Moradpour, and Tina Pakravan.

Produced by Morteza Shayesteh, the flick is also picked to inaugurate the 4th edition of Love International Film Festival (LIFF) to be held in the US on September 2020.

‘Weightlessness’ kicked off screening across cinema halls in Iran since February 12, and then due to the outbreak of coronavirus in Iran, all the cinemas were temporarily shut down.

Iranian documentary ‘The Old Man and the Singer’ is also among the Iranian contenders at the Ischia Film Festival.

The Ischia Film Festival is a competition open to feature films and documentaries regardless of language: fiction, documentary, animation.

The theme of the festival is particularly focused "on the location and enhancement of the cultural and landscape identity of the territories chosen for filming".

The event will be held online on June 27-July 4, 2020.
