Rahbar Qanbari’s 8-minute flick is in contention at the School Competition section of the 15th edition of the Swiss film event.
A brief synopsis for ‘The Time of Pomegranates’ Smile’ reads, “Children enter a garden to steal pomegranates in the harvest season. One of them pursues the old owner of the garden with his basket of fruit. Later a theft takes place”.
The short has already attended a number of international events, including the Kolkata International Children’s Film Festival in India and the Montreal International Film Festival in Canada.
The FIFOG is an important cinematographic event in the cultural landscape of French-speaking Switzerland, which promotes cinema, diversity and intercultural dialogue. It annually presents 100 films of all genres, along with about 60 guests from around the world.
The 15th edition of the event which is holding online kicked off on June 4 and will be running till June 16, 2020.
