‘Butterfly Stroke’ premieres in Tehran

Iranian feature film ‘Butterfly Stroke’ has received public screening, few days after movie theaters across the country reopened following months of coronavirus lockdown.

The cast and crew of ‘Butterfly Stroke’, including its director Mohammad Kart as well as the stars Pantea Bahram, Tannaz Tabatabaee and Ali Shademan, attended the premiere of the film that was held in Astara Cinema in Tehran on Monday.

During the ceremony, the film’s producer Rasoul Sadr-Ameli said “The screening of ‘Butterfly Stroke’ is the weirdest screening of a film in Iran and even in the world” because it attracted a significant number of cinema-enthusiasts to the movie theaters despite the outbreak of coronavirus.”

“A film of a woman swimming in a pool is distributed through the internet. Now her husband and her brother are after finding the one who is responsible for that and taking revenge on him,” a synopsis for the film reads.

The premiere of the film was reportedly well received.
