Italy to learn Iran’s ‘Driving Lessons’

Internationally celebrated Iranian short title ‘Driving Lessons’ has been picked to attend the CiciliAmbiente Film Festival in Italy.

Directed by Marzieh Riahi, the 13-minute award-winning title will take part at the competition section of the 12th edition of the Italian event.

‘Driving Lessons’ is a feminine story about a young woman named Bahareh who must have her traditional controlling husband accompany her on driving lessons so that she and her male instructor would not be alone.

The flick has so far attended a number of international events and won some awards, including the jury’s special award at the Film Festival for Women’s Rights in South Korea, the best short drama award at the “I Will Tell” international film festival in the UK and the best film award at the Religion Today Film Festival in Italy.

It has also, recently, been awarded with the Best Short Narrative at the Through Women’s Eyes International Film Festival and the Best Long Narrative at the Big Muddy Film Festival, both in the US.

The CiciliAmbiente Film Festival aims to be a platform for independent documentary cinema and to be a venue for filmmakers to exchange expertise.

This year’s edition of the event is slated for August 4-8, 2020.
