‘Chess Game of Wind’ to go on Cannes roster

The Cannes Classics as part of the Cannes Film Festival in France has scheduled to screen ‘The Chess Game of the Wind’ from Iran.

Directed by Mohammad-Reza Aslani, ‘The Chess Game of the Wind’ is about the decadence of a family in the Qajar dynasty of Iran.

The first lady of a noble house has died and now there is a conflict between the heirs for taking over her heritage.

Starring the recently deceased actor Mohammad-Ali Keshavarz, the film is a 1976 production.

Cineteca di Bologna at L’Immagine Ritrovata and the Film Foundation’s World Cinema Project have cooperated on restoring ‘The Chess Game of the Wind’.

The Cannes Classics which showcases restored classic films and documentaries announced the lineup on Wednesday.

The 2020 Cannes Film Festival which was not held this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic will offer 25 feature films and seven documentaries in this category.

The Lumiere Festival in Lyon, France, has scheduled to hold this year’s edition of the Cannes Classics on October 10-18 and the Rencontres Cinematographiques of Cannes on November 23-26.
