Get to know 1st US-produced Iranian film

Shahab Hosseini’s starrer ‘The Night’ is the first US-produced film to receive a license for theatrical release in Iran.

The psychological thriller ‘The Night, by  Kourosh Ahari is a turning point for the Iranian filmmaking community as the flick landed the license as the first US-produced film since the Islamic Revolution.

The flick managed to receive the production permit before Trump Administration’s new Iran sanctions at the end of 2018.

Cannes 2016 Best Actor winner for ‘The Salesman', Shahab Hosseini, stars in ‘The Night’ where Niousha Jafarian plays opposite the Iranian actor. The flick follows an Iranian couple who find themselves locked inside an old hotel with their one-year-old daughter.

‘The Night’ premiered in the world at Santa Barbara International Film Festival in January. The film enjoys international cast and crew with Iranian immigrants in the US making up the majority.

The suspenseful, psychological thriller with elements of horror has the executive producer of ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’, Jeffrey Allard,  on board.
