India to hold ‘The Hands’

The Kalakari Film Festival in India is set to showcase ‘The Hands’ from Iran.

The second edition of the Kalakari film event will be playing host to Parviz Rajaee’s short flick on determinism and free will.

“Some are in stillness to be formed by a hand, and others try to form”, a synopsis for the film reads.

So far, ‘The Hands’ has attended several film festivals across the globe, including the 4th Sylhet Film Festival in Bangladesh, the 1st Southport Int’l Short Film Festival in the UK, the 2020 Southeast Regional Film Festival in the US, the 2020 South Coast Film Festival of the UK and the 2020 Kosice International Monthly Film Festival of Slovakia.

‘The Hands’ is also the recipient of the best short film award from the World Premiere Film Awards (WPFA) in the US.

Plans are to run a virtual 2020 edition of Kalakari fest that will include in-person and digital movie screenings, drive-ins and virtual red carpet premieres where public can experience the festival in their hands.

Over 250 short films with 50+ artworks are submitted to the festival from around the world.

The upcoming edition of the festival will take place on August 25, 2020.
