Iran’s short film wins award in Bangladesh

The 2020 Sylhet Film Festival in Bangladesh has bestowed three awards on Iranian attendee ‘Intense’.

Shirin Sabour’s short film succeeded to bag three awards at the 4th edition of the Sylhet Film Festival, including awards for best screenplay, best short film as well as best actor award which went to Behzad Khalaj for his laudable performance in the flick.

‘Intense’ tells the story of Nader whose house is on the verge of destruction. He asks his sister to help him on the pretext of his child’s illness. His sister goes to his home where she finds something that unfolds many secrets.

Sabour’s title made its screening debut at the 2020 Venice Intercultural Film Festival of Italy where it won the Best Short/doc On Women award at the event.

Besides ‘Intense’, Mohammad Qaribi and Reza Sheikhlani’s coproduction ‘Look at Me for a Moment’ was also among the Iranian contenders at the Bangladeshi film festival.

Sylhet Film Festival promotes the study and appreciation of the film by means of screenings, discussions, exhibitions, workshops and related activities.

The event took place virtually on July 17-19 in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic.
