Venice filmfest to receive ‘Wasteland’

Iranian film ‘Wasteland’ is to compete at the Orizzonti section of the 77th Venice International Film Festival in Italy.

‘Wasteland’, the second directorial offering by Ahmad Bahrami, narrates the story of a lonely man named Lotfolla who works as a supervisor in a brick factory that produces bricks in a traditional way.

Lotfolla acts as a go-between in the factory. The owner of the factory once brings together all the workers and tells them something that changes their lives.

Some of the film’s cast members are Ali Baqeri, Farrokh Nemati, Mahdieh Nasaj, Majid Farhang and Touraj Alvand.

Produced by Saeed Bashiri, ‘Wasteland’ will compete with 18 other films from Italy, India, Kazakhstan, the US, France, Tunisia, Philippines, Australia, Palestine, Greece, Mexico, the UK and China.

The Orizzonti section of the festival focuses on the new and young talents.

Venice Film Festival is one of the oldest film festivals in the world and one of the most important film events in Europe.

The 77th edition of the event will be held on September 2-12, 2020.
