US honors Iran short

Iranian short film ‘Crusher’ has been announced as a winner at the Fly Film Festival in the US.

Arshia Zeinali’s short flick has received the jury award (AKA: Polymath award) at the sixth edition of the American film event.

The flick’s synopsis on the official website of the event reads, “Crusher is a social story of a fired laborer who used to work in a stone crusher plant. His life gets in crisis as a result of the rumors about war and the rise of dollar currency. Eventually, he decides to do something with lasting effects”.

Saba Mahdavi, Mohammad-Hossein Qolizadeh and Arshia Zeinali, the director, comprise the cast list of the film.

The short has already been screened at a number of global events, including the Annual Athens Marathon Int’l Film Festival in Greece and the Geelong Int’l Film Festival, where the film grabbed two awards for Best Soundtrack and Best Sound Editing.

The Fly Film Festival aims to give room to hopeful and inspiring films, both short and feature, from around the world.

To stay safe, the event based in Oklahoma, went online this year on July 31 to August 01 over the coronavirus pandemic.
