Iran’s short on Manhattan Short fest DVD

The Manhattan Short Film Festival in the US has included Iranian short flick ‘Driving Lessons’ in its list of “must have” finalists.

The gala has presented Past Finalists Volume 7 DVD which contains a selection of the best short film finalists at the Manhattan Short Film Festival.

According to the festival’s official website, “only 500 DVDs and 500 Blu-ray copies are produced, this DVD and or Blu-ray is a "must have" for every fan and enthusiast of short films”.

‘Driving Lessons’, directed by Marzieh Riahi, was among the 10 finalists at the 2019 edition of the Manhattan Short Film Festival.

The film is about Bahareh who has a driving test to pass.

She has to have her traditional chauvinistic husband accompany her during driving lessons so that she and her instructor are not alone together.

The film’s cast members include Linda Kiani, Alireza Sanifar, Salar Khamseh, and Sanaz Mesbah.

Riahi’s film has previously grabbed more than 10 international awards, some of which are Best Short Narrative award at the Through Women’s Eyes International Film Festival in the US, Best Long Narrative award at the Annual Big Muddy Film Festival in the US, and jury’s special award at the Film Festival for Women's Rights in South Korea.

The Manhattan Short Film Festival is an Oscar qualifying festival which means its finalists go on screen in the county of Los Angeles for a full week.
