Iranian feature to vie at Spanish fest

Iranian movie ‘Cinema Donkey’ is slated to be screened at the Begur Comedy Film Festival in Spain.

Shahed Ahmadlou’s movie will represent Iranian cinema at the sixth edition of the Spanish film event.

‘Cinema Donkey’ is a dark comedy that shows the untold truth behind connections in the world of filmmaking.

It narrates the story of a film crew who are working on a film project. They need a donkey for some of the scenes. Failing to find one, they settle for a donkey wandering in the woods.

‘Cinema Donkey’ had been already screened at a number of global events, including the Bengaluru Int’l Film Festival (BIFFES) in India, the 72nd Cannes Film Market – Marché du Film as well as the 24th Busan Int’l Film Festival in South Korea where it won nom to receive the Kim Ji-seok award.

Some of Ahmadlou’s works have already been aired on ifilm, including ‘The Honeymoon’ and ‘The Special Unit’. He also appeared in ‘Freedom’ as an actor.

The son of late Iranian actor Khosro Shakibaee, PouriyaShakibaee, is among the cast members of the flick.

The Begur Comedy Film Festival is an event that celebrates the feature films and short films dedicated to the genre of comedy in the city of Begur in Spain.

This year’s edition of the fest is slated for October 8–12.
